Poker Stars Review

Our Poker Stars review acknowledges that PokerStars has the best poker tournaments on the Internet. They are also known as having some of the toughest competition, and they run a first class website. Highlights of our own review of Poker Stars are provided below. The site reviews include information for tournaments, games, table stakes, their bonus system, payment options, screenshots, and overall poker room ratings.

Note that PokerStars has a lower "Players" rating because a lot of sharks play on their site, and in general their players are more experienced than on other sites. Therefore, you will have a difficult time finding soft competition.

Poker Stars Games and Table Stakes

Poker Stars has the following games: Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Seven Card Stud, and Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo. They have games with table stakes ranging from $0.02/$0.04 to $100/$200 (!!!) as well as All-In tables, No All-In Tables, and High Speed tables. Players have the option to upload and use a picture of themselves at the online poker tables.

Review of Poker Stars Tournaments

Poker Stars produced both the 2003 World Series of Poker champion, Chris Moneymaker, and the 2004 WSOP champion, Greg "Fossilman" Raymer. Both players won entrance into their events by winning preliminary tournaments at Poker Stars. In addition to claiming bragging rights for being the home of these champions, PokerStars hosts daily tournaments with $1 to $200 buy-ins. They also have a weekly $200+15 No-Limit Texas Hold'em tournament with a guaranteed prize pool of at least $350,000.

Poker Room Software

Their software receives our top rating and provides various useful features such as a multi-table tournament lobby with excellent tournament information and a "Time Bank" that gives you extra time to make decisions when you need to, but which is limited in order to keep players from playing too slow. Note that for all tournaments and multi-table satellites, all players are assigned random seats to start the tournament in order to prevent collusion.

Poker Statistics

Another great feature of Poker Stars is that they show game statistics on your screen. You can also request stats for your previous hands or for your entire gaming history on their site. Obviously, smart players will use this information to keep notes on other players and store them in the "Notes" tab of the chat box - another very useful feature of the PokerStars software.

Poker Stars Bonuses

Poker Stars is currently offering a 100% bonus up to $600 on your first deposit (Bonus Code: STARS600). The also use a Frequent Player Points (FPP) system. Players accumulate points by playing cash games and tournaments. See the Poker Stars site for full details.
