Review of Celeb Poker
|
Our review of Celeb Poker will give you all the meat on this extremely fishy poker room. Currently, they seem to be making a push in terms of advertising, and they are a
popular international site. Besides the typical loose European opponents, you'll find a lot of U.S. Dollar tables with terrible players. Tournament traffic is also
pretty high, making Celeb Poker akin to a brand new 6-pack of sardines.

Fish: 4.5
In all honesty, this site is near the top in terms of their number of calling stations and maniacs. Rarely will you see more bad players at higher limits than at this
site. As I live in the shallow Hawaiian waters, I usually play on the U.S. tables. Fortunately, there are plenty of international maniacs who enter these tables. You'll
actually see flop percentages between 50-60% at $1/2 and $2/4 no-limit tables! Now that's fishy! Sharks will salivate over the poor play, but will often find themselves
frustrated by the constant bad beats that will inevitably ensue.
Sharks: 2.5 (inverse rating)
Celeb Poker has some very high-stakes games, and these are where the few sharks tend to be relegated to. Still, these big games seemingly have a lot of bad players
with lots of money. You'll routinely find $5/10 no-limit games filled, and most of these players are still beatable. Overall, they have a high fish-to-shark ratio.
Bait (promotions): 3
They usually offer decent promotions including first deposit bonuses and reload bonuses which change from month to month.
However, Celeb Poker doesn't have many promotions at the moment besides advertising their Poker School, which isn't very unique.
They hold the occasional satellite or freeroll, but this is an area that they should improve upon.
Skin (software): 4
I like the graphical aspect of this software, as it is fairly detailed and the table graphics are pretty sharp. The background looks as if it was taken from a
high-resolution photograph, thus it looks real and blends well with the digital table. I also like the round count-down over each avatar letting you know how much time
is left to act. Unfortunately, the software doesn't offer much in terms of player statistics or other functional features that are common to other software packages.
Also, the lobby tends to get quite cluttered unless you re-sort it a few times.
Prey (tournaments): 3.5
The actual tournament traffic is pretty high, and many events have at least 100-300 entrants. I also like the range in buy-ins, from $1 to several hundred for larger
events. Most medium buy-in events fill up nicely. They major negative to their tournament offerings is the frequency, which is typically only one or two per hour. Also,
freeroll players won't find much at Celeb, as they only offer a qualifier to a weekly $50 tournament. That is probably the fishiest freeroll structure I've seen
online.
Overall Celeb Poker Rating
Pearls (positives)
Celeb Poker serves up some of the worst competition online, sharp software, and busy tournaments.
Hooks (negatives)
They don't offer a large amount of tournaments. Software features are also basic and lacks certain player function.
The Hammer (overall rating): 3.5

Tips for Playing at Celeb Poker
Meat (tips)
One of the keys of playing a consistent poker game is recovering from bad beats without going on tilt. As you will encounter an enormous amount of weak draws and trash
hands from your opponents at Celeb Poker, it should be essential to your psychological poker game to stay level-headed. No matter how bad of a beat you just suffered,
you should keep in mind that a new hand will be dealt in two minutes. Especially if you are playing in a no-limit ring game or tournament, you can double-up or more on
any given hand. If you can't keep playing with the same consistency that you did prior to the bad beat, you should probably sit out for a few hands and take a mental
and/or physical break from the game. A break of a few minutes and a chance to de-stress could save you a good amount of money over the rest of your playing session.
Blubber (babble)
Celeb Poker? I hear that one of their promotions is the chance to play with some European hot shot celebrities. Perhaps I should rephrase that - some European B-shot
celebrities. Have you ever heard of these guys? Most of all, why should it matter who you're playing against, anyway? Have you ever watched Celebrity Poker?
They're terrible poker players, and it is utterly painful to watch. Maybe it is good to play on celebrity poker sites for the sheer ineptitude of their play. Alright,
so I'm a little bitter at the entertainment industry right now. For some reason, not even one television director thought that a hammerhead shark detective was a good
idea. Pffff… they call themselves talent scouts and they looked over that goldmine?
